Hi Casey,
I have had a lot of experience lately with WE 'HI-CAPA DRAGONS' and 'BABY'S'
showing the same problems and more that your WE 1911 is exhibiting.
There are three main problems with the guns that I and my friends have.
1) Poor quality control in the strength of the parts attached to the removeable side plate. And the hammer.
2)High sensitivity to ambient temperature.
3)Insufficient gas flow from the magazine.
My fixes have been as follows:
1)Replaced the hammer, hammer strut & pin, sear, firing pin and firing pin retractor(The part that is operated by the slide as it recoils to full recoil to retract the firing pin)
with Tokyo Marui parts from their superb Hi-Capa 5.1.
Remember that WE pistols are metal clones of TM HI-CAPAS,and the parts fully interchange in my experience!!
I got 6 sets of these 6 parts from a guy in Japan for £15.60 a set.Great value.
See end of post for his email.
2&3)On cooler days the gas gets too cold to offer enough pressure to operate the gun properly.
I have experimented at great length with 3 std.WE mags, and the Co2 mag;and the TM mag. fitted with a high flow valve. The only mag that works all the time is the TM mag.
I cant find a high flow valve for the WE mag.The TM high flow wont fit.
Using a heat gun to warm up the WE mag.also works, but impossible to do out in the war zone!!
Hope this solves your probs. and puts your mind to rest.
The guy in Japan is named Leonard Samuels.

Good luck Geoff.

So, just to be sure, the TM 1911 mags work in the WE 1911? I got mine yesterday and I love it.
It had the cooldown problem where I only got about 7-8 shots on one mag, but after I stripped it down and cleaned and lubed it, it works perfectly. I can get about two mags worth from one fill.

INSIDE THE SLIDE IS THE SLIDING NOZZLE THAT THE GAS COMES OUT OF TO BLOW THE BB ALONG THE BARREL AND OUT THE MUZZLE.
IF YOU PULL THIS NOZZLE FORWARD FAR ENOUGH YOU WILL EXPOSE THE PISTON SEAL.IT'S A SILICONE 'O' RING FITTED TO A PLASTIC OR METAL 'WASHER',THE PISTON HEAD.THIS ASSEMBLY WEARS DOWN AND BECOMES A SLOPPY FIT INSIDE THE NOZZLE AND LETS GAS LEAK OUT INSTEAD OF BLOWING THE SLIDE BACK.HENCE LITTLE OR NO RE-COILING SLIDE AND NOT MUCH VELOCITY TO THE BB.
THESE ASSEMBLIES ARE AVAILABLE ON THE HONG KONG AIRSOFT SITES AND COST APROX.$15-20 FOR AN AFTERMARKET UPGRADE KIT,DEPENDING ON THE BRAND AND THE AMOUNT OF BITS IN THE UPGRADE.
REGARDS GEOFF.
